How does it work?
We’re on a mission to review the entire list of books that have won the Newbery Medal or been named a Newbery Honor book. We choose years mostly at random, and do “seasons” of podcasts that consist of one episode per book (for example, our first year is 1984, which had one winner and 4 honor books, so we recorded a season of 5 episodes). We’re also choosing a drink, or sometimes snack, that relates to the book we’re discussing, and we’ll review that too. We’ll have occasional one-off episodes to interview authors or illustrators, talk about events like the Youth Media Awards, and review books we might consider possible candidates for a future Newbery Medal or Honor. While our main goal with this project is to hang out, have a cocktail, and nerd out about the books we love, we also hope that if anyone out there is listening, you enjoy yourselves too.
Your Intrepid Hosts
Jennie and Marcy are two book-loving mamas (and a librarian and a bookseller, respectively) who are reading and drinking their way through the entire catalogue of Newbery books, and interviewing authors and illustrators along the way.
